According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, 40% of all the food produced in the United States is thrown out. This equates to filling the Pasadena Rose Bowl to the brim with food waste every single day, while 1 in 8 Americans struggle to access sufficient food.
Why is food waste so overlooked when it is a main contributor to not only world hunger, but also global warming? By reducing food waste by just 15%, 25 million more Americans would be adequately fed.
